Getting to know me

Hey y'all! Welcome to my crazy life stories! Grab some popcorn, a box of tissues, a scratch pad and get ready for this ride!

My hope is that this blog is both entertaining and inspiring. I suppose I should take a minute to introduce myself...

My name is Erica. I am (almost) 39. I have 4 children, ages 20, 19, 17, and 10, and I'm recently divorced. I work full time as a nurse and as a mom! I am a college student. I am a Christian, I live in southern Texas (bible belt), and I am learning to cope with single life, a strict budget, my walk in faith, and TRANSPARENCY. I am sentimental, I love my kiddos, my friends, coffee, I wear my heart on my sleeve, and I love to turn trash into treasure; ya know, like how the fancy people say...repurpose things. Let's be real folks, I garbage pick (aka treasure hunt) and then I fix it, paint it, keep it, or sell it. My previous home was entirely decorated/furnished with hand-me-downs and "finds". But, I digress...

The more I post, the more this will all make sense. So, back to that large word up there, transparency.

As I walk in my faith, and through life in general, I have learned the meaning of, and importance of, being transparent. Now, that does not mean y'all need to know all my dirty secrets, but rather that I have nothing to hide. I am who I am and it's OK to be me! I have struggled with depression, shame, guilt, sin...haven't we all? The difference is, once it's all on the table, nothing can hold you down. TRUST ME, it is not at all easy to be transparent. I am still learning to do it. I recently completed my testimony at church (ya, it's a thing) where I sat in front of a camera and dished out some of the dirty for about 30 minutes. This will be shown to all of my church family (and be online) this Sunday. Y'all, I was scared to death! Point being, I hope that my small accomplishment and leap of faith will, one day, help someone else to be comfortable in their own skin. I hope that someone out there will realize that they are not alone. Alone is a sad and scary place that I have lived in for a very, very long time. So, since I just did that, I won't bore you with all the details. I'll just sprinkle them within my awesome blog posts!

This blog is a journey, my journey, and I hope my readers will enjoy and learn here. I also hope to learn from y'all. Feel free to leave a comment and I will do my very best to respond.
